PREP GUIDE

FOR HAIR, MAKEUP, AND EVERYTHING THAT SHOWS UP IN PHOTOS BEFORE YOU DO.

OUR DARLING BRIDE,

Your bridal look isn’t created on the wedding day; it’s built in the weeks leading up to it. This guide will help you arrive at your preview and wedding day with hair, skin, and expectations aligned so everything feels effortless and intentional.

8–12 Weeks Before the Wedding

Hair Prep

  • Begin your “no surprises” phase with your hair: avoid major cuts or dramatic color shifts.

  • If you plan to adjust tone or highlights, do it at least 6–8 weeks prior so the color settles naturally.

  • Start using a professional hydrating mask 1–2x per week.

  • If you are considering extensions, this is the ideal time to order and color-match them.

Skin Prep

  • Lock in a consistent skincare routine. This is not the time to experiment with new acids, peels, or viral products.

  • Introduce treatments slowly (think: glow, not chaos).

  • Book facials monthly if your skin already tolerates them well.

4–6 Weeks Before

Bridal Preview

  • Arrive with clean, dry hair (washed the night before or morning of if your stylist requests it).

  • Wear a top similar in neckline and tone to your dress.

  • Bring inspiration, but be open to adaptation based on your hair type, texture, and overall bridal aesthetic.

  • If you are wearing a veil, headpiece, or extensions—bring them.

Hair Reality Check

  • We refine your look based on:

    • How your hair naturally falls

    • How it holds curl or shape

    • The balance between polish and movement in photos

1–2 Weeks Before

Hair

  • Final gloss or tone refresh (if needed) should be completed now.

  • Avoid heavy layering, cuts, or thinning treatments.

  • Deep condition once per week—no overdoing it.

Skin

  • Stop introducing new products.

  • Avoid aggressive facials, dermaplaning, or extractions unless your skin is used to them.

  • Prioritize hydration over correction.

3–5 Days Before

  • Wash hair as usual unless otherwise instructed for your styling prep.

  • Avoid heavy oils or leave-in products that build residue.

  • Hydrate consistently (yes, water actually matters here more than you want it to).

  • Get your brows shaped at least 3–5 days before—not the day before.

  • Nails should be clean, neutral, and finished 1–2 days prior.

The Day Before

Wash hair unless your stylist has specifically instructed otherwise.

Let hair dry naturally or blow-dry smooth (no hot tools unless necessary).

Sleep on a clean pillowcase (silk if possible, but not mandatory—just clean is fine).

Avoid salty foods and alcohol if puffiness is a concern.

BRIDE ONLY EXCLUSIVES

Hair

  • Arrive with dry, product-free hair unless instructed otherwise.

  • Wear a button-down or robe so you don’t disturb your finished look when changing.

Skin

  • Clean, moisturized face only. No heavy oils or new products.

  • Keep skincare minimal—your makeup artist is building your look from a controlled base.

Mindset (the underrated beauty step)

  • Don’t rush your morning.

  • Don’t try new beauty routines.

  • Don’t overmanage your look once it’s in progress—trust the process.

Extensions, Veils & Accessories

  • Extensions should be pre-colored, pre-cut, and fully installed before the wedding day.

  • Veils and hair accessories should be tested during your preview.

  • Anything that adds weight or structure to the hair must be accounted for in styling time.

What Not To Do

  • No last-minute haircuts

  • No new skincare products in the final 2 weeks

  • No self-tanning experiments 24–48 hours before

  • No shampoo “resets” or clarifying over-washing right before the wedding

  • No panic Pinterest decisions the night before (this is a known beauty disruptor)

Final Note

The best bridal beauty doesn’t come from doing more; it comes from removing uncertainty.

Your job is to arrive rested and ready. Our job is everything else.

We'll see you soon!

With beauty and grace,
